Yvonne Stratford, was born and raised in Miami's historic Liberty City area. In 2003 she began her community work with the Miami Workers Center.
She vowed to be a lifelong community activist after MWC's victory with Scott Carver where Florida's governor awarded one-to-one replacement of public housing units replacing the homes of all those who were displaced. She loves the work that MWC does, more specifically around public housing issues. What most inspires her is fighting for the neighborhood and on behalf of other community members. She desires to continue working with others in the neighborhood to make things better and return to the days when Liberty City was filled with bustling businesses and store fronts.
